This Privacy Policy explains how Viscovery Software e.U., Brunnenweg 17, A-9062 Moosburg, Austria (“Viscovery”) processes personal data in connection with the website www.viscovery.net, user accounts, the online store, and Viscovery software licenses.

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time.

Depending on the purpose, processing is based on Art. 6 (1) b GDPR for user accounts, software licenses, orders, invoices, and contractual fulfilment; Art. 6 (1) c GDPR for legal obligations, including accounting, tax, and statutory retention obligations; Art. 6 (1) f GDPR for Viscovery’s legitimate interests in operating and securing the website, preventing abuse, improving products and services, and enforcing rights; and Art. 6 (1) a GDPR where consent has been given.

Personal data are stored only for as long as necessary for the relevant purpose and disclosed to third parties only where required by law or necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.

When you browse the website

When you access individual pages of the website, the server records the following access data:

  • IP address
  • Browser type
  • External referrer
  • Visited pages
  • Access times
  • Amount of data sent

The combination of IP address and visited pages is stored for at most 72 hours. This data is used to operate and secure the website and to detect and prevent abuse, such as system attacks. After this period, the access records are anonymized by removing IP addresses and may be used to improve Viscovery’s products and services.

The website uses cookies that are necessary for technical operation, user login, and the online store. Cookies are stored for at most 3 weeks after the last visit to the website. You can set your browser to decline cookies; this may restrict use of the website, in particular user account and online store functions.

When you register on the website or request a free license

To register a user account, you must provide a valid email address and set a password. This data is processed to create and manage the user account.

If a free software license is requested through the website or from within Viscovery software, a valid email address is needed to deliver and administer the license and to contact users regarding their license.

If you consent to receive information and news about Viscovery and Viscovery products, the email address and any other data provided for this purpose are processed accordingly. Consent may be withdrawn at any time by email to dataprivacy@viscovery.net.

When you place an order

To place an order through the online store, a user account and the required customer and billing information are needed. You provide the following data:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Billing address
  • Company or institution name, if applicable
  • VAT ID, if applicable

Based on this information and the selected items, Viscovery processes order, invoice, license, and delivery information to fulfil the purchase agreement.

Order, invoice, and license data, as well as payment data received through bank transfer are stored for as long as necessary for contractual, license administration, liability, or statutory retention purposes.

When you install and use Viscovery software

To activate a software license and validate it during operation, Viscovery software connects to the Viscovery license server. This is necessary to administer the license and enable licensed use.

Only non-reversible hash values derived from the user identification and hardware properties of the computer running the software are transmitted and processed, allowing recurring license requests to be recognized without revealing the underlying identifiers.

No data processed with the software are transmitted to Viscovery.
